OVERVIEW
Central Dalmatia
In
2022, we start at
Kastela where the boat is in a yard, then move back to base at
Rogoznica. Our first stay is disrupted by late works at Split and their stress and aftermath. The second stay suffers from poor weather. We only go out to the Sibenik islands, and do a few day trips to bays. 17 and 23 days, a total of 40 days are spent on board the boat.
Istria / Kvarner islands
In 2023 we start from a new base in Novigrad/Istria. During our first stay we visit Istrian harbours and the Briuni islands. In the second stay we continue exploring Istria and also cruise from Pula to Cres in good weather conditions. 27 plus 23, a total of 50 days spent on board during this pleasant season.
Istria
Our first holiday of 2024 is made impossible by severely delayed shaft suppliers. The boat has to stay in the yard in Izola. Our second attempt, out of Novigrad in September, gets hampered by poor weather. We only make a visit to Rovinj and a few day trips to local bays during this holiday. We stay on board for 23 days.
Istria / Kvarner islands/ Italy
For 2025 we take our home berth at Veruda/Pula. During our first stay we visit Losinj, Rab and Krk. In September, our second stay, a journey to the Italian North Adriatic and Venice follows. A final cruise to Mali Losinj completes a fine season. We spend 27 and 21 days, a total of 48 days, on the boat.
AFTERWORD
Having a boat means you are in for adventures. Most of the time, hopefully, your boat lets you enjoy adventures, but some times it feels like an adventure itself to have a boat. That is of course due to other people, contractors, suppliers and organizations involved, and, sometimes, you can just be hugely unlucky.
The experience of the recent years told us that you should be grateful if your boat is available and you are able to enjoy it, and not take this for granted. If you can, be flexible and make the best of your time; do not delay, opportunity goes and may not return.
The stories on this page are written with hindsight. After 2021, our post-Covid years of Croatia boating are chequered; some years have more rain than shine, such as 2022 and 2024, but the hardships are overcome and the sun rises again. Our Croatia boating holidays draw to reconciliatory conclusion in 2025. Proud memories of all beautiful moments remain, our ambitions are fulfilled.
