Seasons 2022 - 2025
OVERVIEW
Central Dalmatia
In
2022, we start at
Kastela where the boat is still in a yard, then move back to the previous base at
marina Frapa, Rogoznica. Our first stay is disrupted by late works at Split, their stress and aftermath. The second stay suffers from extraordinary poor weather. We only go out to the Sibenik islands, and do a few day trips to bays. 17 and 23 days, a total of 40 days are spent on board our boat.
Istria / Kvarner islands
In 2023 we start from a new base in marina Nautica, Novigrad/Istria. During our first stay we visit Istrian harbours and the Briuni islands. In the second stay we continue exploring Istria and also cruise to Pula and on to Cres in good weather conditions. 27 plus 23, a total of 50 days spent on board during this pleasant season.
Istria
Our first holiday of 2024 is blocked by the severely delayed supply of new propeller shafts from UK; the boat has to stay in the yard in Izola. Our second stay, starting out of Novigrad in September, gets hampered by poor weather conditions. We only make a visit to Rovinj and a few day trips to bays during this holiday. We stay on board for only 23 days.
Istria / Kvarner islands/ Italy
For 2025 we take our home berth at marina Veruda/Pula. During our first stay we visit Losinj, Rab and Krk. In September, our second stay, a journey to the Italian North Adriatic and Venice follows. A final short cruise to Mali Losinj completes a fine season. We spend 27 and 21 days, a total of 48 days, on the boat.
AFTERWORD
Having a boat means you are in for adventures. Most of the time, hopefully, your boat lets you enjoy adventures, but some times it feels like an adventure itself to have a boat. That is of course due to other people, contractors, suppliers and organizations involved, and, sometimes, you can just be hugely unlucky.
The experience of the recent years told us that you should be grateful if your boat is available and you are able to enjoy it, and not take this for granted. If you can, be flexible and make the best of your time; do not delay, opportunity does not wait, it may go and not return.
After loosing season 2021 to repair works, our post-Covid years of Croatia boating are chequered; 2023 proves a pleasing season but other years leave us short changed and give us more rain than shine, such as 2022 and 2024; but the hardships are overcome and the sun rises again.
With a bright 2025 season our Croatia boating holidays draw to reconciliatory conclusion.
Proud memories of all the beautiful moments remain, our ambitions of cruising our own boat in the Med are fulfilled.
